Check the official register
Do not rely only on a licence number or regulator logo shown on the broker's own website. Search the exact legal entity in the register of the regulator it claims to be authorised by.
Look for regulatory warnings
Search the firm's trading name and website domain in public warning databases. Regulators publish notices concerning firms that may be operating without the required authorisation.
Compare the name, domain and licence
A website can imitate the identity of a legitimate firm. Compare its domain, legal name, contact details and registration number with the regulator's official record.
Review how payments are requested
Take extra care if payment destinations keep changing, money is requested through unrelated third parties, or additional payments are demanded before a withdrawal can be processed.
Warning signs worth checking
- Pressure to make additional deposits urgently.
- Promises of consistent returns with little or no risk.
- Requests for remote access to your computer or phone.
- Unexpected taxes, insurance or fees when requesting a withdrawal.
- Company, domain or licence details that do not match official records.
Keep the evidence
Save payment receipts, statements, emails, conversations, wallet addresses, screenshots and documents. Avoid sending additional funds solely because you are told another payment will release the balance.
